Girlz Empowered Sierra Leone to engage stakeholders in Waterloo community on putting an end to FGM.

Girlz Empowered Sierra Leone (GE-SL) is engaging stakeholders in the Waterloo community in a meeting that is geared toward the elimination of FGM/C on girls and women. This meeting that will be held at 1 pm today is part of the national implementation of the project: Strengthening youth advocacy in accelerating the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation. This project is an initiative of YouthHubAfrica (YHA), African Youth Commission and in support of UNFPA and UNICEF joint programme on the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation.

The purpose of this intervention is to strengthen the partnership between YouthHubAfrica and youth movements in 8 African Countries that are championing advocacy activities that are geared towards some of the social issues that are affecting women and girls in Africa. Girlz Empowered Sierra Leone currently serves as the Lead Partner in Sierra Leone, implementing the national level activities as part of the ‘Strengthening youth advocate in accelerating the elimination of FGM’ project.
